Masters tourney goes mobile

We don’t usually associate The Masters tournament with high-tech initiatives, seems like the course at Augusta would prefer folks left their smartphones in the car, but this year an official tournament app has been released that will help golf fans follow all the drama.

We here at appsbar, the free app maker for Android, applaud the development.

In addition to its comprehensive, almost commercial-free TV coverage, the Masters golf tournament announced Wednesday that it will have apps for Android-based smartphones and tablets for online viewing of this year’s tournament. Though the golf that counts won’t start until next Thursday, April 5, Masters coverage this year begins next Monday with a new live program called “On the Range” which will air live on

In past years the Masters has had only apps for Apple iPhones and iPads, and charged $1.99 for a premium iPad app; this year, all apps are free and can be downloaded here

Temple Run comes to Android

The immensely popular iPhone game Temple Run has made the leap to Android devices.

Developer Imangi Studios has announced that the free-to-play game, which has surpassed 45 million downloads in Apple’s App Store, hit the Android Marketplace earlier today. Currently the game is compatible with more than 700 Android devices.

Its baseball season!

Well, its almost baseball season. At least Spring Training is in full swing. At appsbar, we’ve seen a lot of folks use the free app maker to create fan apps for their favorite baseball teams.

Andry Birds soar in Space

To some, its the app that started it all. For us at appsbar, the free app maker, its an inspiration. No question that Angry Birds is the most successful mobile application of all time.

The birds are now in orbit.

Rovio built up to Thursday’s release of Angry Birds Space with one of the biggest, and probably most expensive, promotional campaigns for a mobile game ever seen. It looks to have paid off handsomely—just hours after its release, the new Angry Birds title is already at the top of Apple’s App Store charts in nearly 30 countries.
